The WingTips Story.
As a private pilot, father, and self-proclaimed technology nerd, Mike’s personal experience provided the idea for WingTips.
And so, our story began.
Mike, our Founder & CEO, was experiencing what is a rite of passage for many parents: visiting your child at college. The question of whether to drive or fly came up, and the realization hit that there was no time difference between the two because of the lack of short-distance flights. Over the next several years, every time he was off to visit his children, the “drive vs fly” question was debated.
That’s when Mike, an instrument-rated pilot with a multi-decade career in data technology, decided to harness the power of data science and AI to deliver a premium travel service for short-distance trips (100-400 mile flights) not serviced by major airlines.

As the business grew and evolved, Mike wrote database programs to continually test new ideas and prove them with proof-of-concept tests. The availability of Big Data and the tools to use it, along with research on decision support strategies, are the driving force for WingTips. Mike is an instrument-rated pilot who worked for large database companies including Oracle & Sun Microsystems. Mike founded JetLimo, the first fully automated shared charter tool, which generated over $1M of revenue by selling 2,000+ empty legs.
Bruce Holmes | Co-Founder & Strategic Advisor
Bruce has leadership experience at NASA & leading aviation companies, which gave him the skill set to scale WingTips into a large market leader in the industry. He is a co-founder of DayJet, an air taxi company, which raised $80M.
Laurie Garrow | Co-Founder & Chief Data Officer
Laurie is a professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology & is a Director of Urban & Regional Air Mobility Center, also at Georgia Tech. She is also the President of AGIFORS Expert in Demand Forecast Science for Air Travel.
