Brainstorming with a friend about regional air travel fueled founder Mike Azzarello’s belief that regional air travel solves multiple challenges encountered with air transportation services available today.  

 Mike’s experience as a private pilot, father, and self-proclaimed technology nerd provided a view into the consumer pain points and the potential provider’s solutions to a problem that seemed obvious. Mike recognized that the 100- to 400-mile trips could be solved by a regional air transportation solution that didn’t exist.  

 4x faster than driving or flying

As the business grew and evolved, Mike wrote database programs to continually test new ideas and prove them with proof-of-concept tests. The availability of Big Data and the tools to use it, along with research on decision support strategies, are the driving force for WingTips. Mike’s vision was to offer individual seat sales on charter flights, with top-notch concierge-level service that gets travelers where they need to be 4x faster than driving or flying a commercial airline.

Mike started his career in technology after studying Economics. His data-driven problem-solving approach began early in his career working for some of the world’s largest database technology providers, where he was responsible for developing custom solutions for real-world business challenges. 

After years of working for others, Mike’s entrepreneurial pursuits turned toward air charter by founding JetLimo; the first fully automated shared charter tool. JetLimo built custom applications for charter operators and successfully automated empty-leg sales, an early attempt at a shared charter model.  

The years Mike spent as an instrument-rated private pilot and custom coding database applications put Mike on track to assemble the building blocks for today’s WingTips. Mike now serves as WingTips’ CEO leading the company into the next stage of development. Under his leadership, WingTips is ready to capture demand for regional air mobility services as the market is poised for dramatic growth.

    Mike’s entrepreneurial pursuits turned toward air charter service with his next move, founding JetLimo. JetLimo was the first fully automated shared charter tool with price discrimination based on passenger commitment. With a suite of jet charter automation tools, he built custom applications for charter operators and successfully automated empty-leg sales, an early attempt at a shared charter model.

    The years Mike spent flying private planes and coding custom database applications to solve real-world problems put him on track to transform regional air mobility.

    With the formation of his next business, Mike assembled the building blocks for today’s WingTips. He started Personal Airline Exchange, Inc. (PAX), building a proprietary, data-driven system that allows operators to decide exactly what their charter flight should be, including the price. The systems streamlined the quoting and buying process by introducing innovative products for charter, making travel on private business aircraft more accessible to a larger audience.

    By 2015, Mike and a group of seasoned air mobility advisors had created a unique solution that achieved the coveted minimum viable product (MVP) stage using Seed funding. Their next round of WingTips funding enabled multiple proofs-of-concept tests that proved the viability of the business and confirmed consumer demand and consumer pricing.

    Mike now serves as WingTips’ CEO leading the company into the next stage of development. Under his leadership, WiingTips is ready to capture demand for regional air mobility services as the market is poised for dramatic growth.
